Like all cities, Columbus, OH, needs to reduce waste of resources and improve air and water quality. In 2005, Columbus launched GetGreen Columbus, a multifaceted initiative to coordinate sustainability efforts throughout the city.

Created in 1999, Burlington's Legacy Project outlines a comprehensive plan to guide change for the economic, environmental and social health of Burlington so it can sustain the community character that residents cherish.

Concerned by limited amount of parks and open space in many cities across the U.S., the Trust for Public Land founded their Parks for People program to ensure that all citizens, especially children, have access to outdoor space.
