Planning Tool Exchange Contribution Guidelines

If you’re ready to contribute to PlanIt X, please use these guidelines to help ensure that we maintain a high quality database and respect intellectual property. See PlanIt X’s Editorial Policy and Terms of Use for further details.

Collaborate and Improve
Before you create a new entry, see if a similar entry already exists. If it does, consider adding to or improving it before you create something new. And wherever you can add links, references, examples, and connect entries in the database, please do!

Strive for Accuracy
Include links, sources and supporting documents whenever you can. Do your best to verify facts and statements that you include in an entry. Reserve outright opinions for comments, rather than including them in the entry itself. If you don’t know something, please don’t guess – just leave the field blank. And remember to come back and update your entries to keep them fresh!

Be Nice
The PlanIt X community is open to everyone. We like different opinions and good discussions, but we expect users to be respectful, constructive and considerate. We will remove all comments and text that we feel is profane, vulgar, hurtful, threatening, or otherwise inappropriate.

Do Not Post Spam
Do not post comments, links or entries that are marketing pitches or that are irrelevant to community planning. We will not approve requests for accounts that are clearly from spammers, and we will remove posts and cancel the accounts of anyone who posts spam. We welcome entries from for-profit businesses and individuals providing community planning services, but please keep the entries factual and relevant.

Do Not Infringe on Copyrights
All content submitted to the site is governed by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 license, which means that other users are free to modify, share, use, and distribute that content as long as they attribute the work and do not use it for commercial purposes.

You may only add content to PlanIt X if it is yours or is not protected by copyright, and you must reference sources. Any user posting content is responsible for ensuring that the content meets the terms of this license and is not illegal. If you duplicate or share content from PlanIt X, you must attribute it by citing the Planning Tool Exchange, entry title and link. We’re curious to hear how you are using the content, so please drop us a note at info [@] Orton [.] org and let us know how you are using the site and content.

We reserve the right to remove, edit, or move content for any reason. Content will be routinely evaluated to ensure that it meets these guidelines and we will close the accounts of any users who repeatedly break them.
