A California-based NGO dedicated to helping individuals (young and old, across the country) tell stories and listen to others.
The Center for Digital Storytelling (CDS) is rooted in the art of personal storytelling: “Storytelling and listening not only helps the teller in the telling, it helps the listener in the hearing, even across great distances of space and time.”[1] CDS collaborates with a wide range of community, educational, civic, arts, health/social services, and business organizations to design and offer Digital Storytelling Workshops focused on specific themes or groups. CDS also works with partners to determine methods for participant recruitment and preparation; developing workshop agendas, and determining quantity and format of final materials.
Goals for storytelling projects include building partnerships among diverse communities and creatively supporting large projects regarding human rights, historical and cultural preservation, and education.
