Coalition of Community Foundations for Youth

Organization Description

Founded a decade ago with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Coalition of Community Foundations for Youth (CCFY) supports over 300 community foundations across the U.S. Now, contributions from over a dozen foundations and more than 125 private members add to CCFY’s growing resources. The three intertwining themes of linking, learning, and leveraging underlie the Foundation’s work.

Through workshops and conferences, CCFY links community foundations to other local organizations, national foundations, and disseminates information on continually evolving best practices and new ideas. These convenings foster an environment where local foundations can swap ideas and learn from each other and from larger, national organizations. Through these connections and matching grants enabled by CCFY, foundations can utilize each other’s resources to increase the overall health of their communities

Since its inception, CCFY has awarded over $5.3 million in grants to 133 community foundations, providing technical assistance, leadership training, conferences and workshops, and opportunities for foundations to collaborate and share ideas. The Foundation has also worked with various think tanks to innovate new ideas around community, specifically family and youth, development, and shared this work with community foundations in widely distributed publications. CCFY provides the private sector with invaluable resources to increase their support of families and children, an often under-supported population in communities across the U.S.
