Tool Description

The SmartCode, developed by the Center for Applied Transect Studies, is a form-based code template that communities can adapt and use.  The SmartCode is meant to be "calibrated", or tailored to fit the community that applies it. 

Summary of Costs

Typically, a town would need a consultant to help it apply the SmartCode.

Strengths

  • Easy to adapt
  • Town doesn't have to create code from scratch

Limitations

  • Cookie cutter if not calibrated well
