Summary
Wikis are now a staple tool for e-participation. These online platforms allow people to create a page of text and invite others to edit, contribute, read, and comment. Wikis are used for articles, document sharing, collaborative editing and more.

Strengths
Wikis are an excellent way to inspire collaboration and to encourage citizens to learn from each other.
They are most useful for editing and sharing documents. They are more useful in latter stages of a planning process for major collaboration and editing of documents.
There are many excellent free or low cost wiki platforms available.
Limitations
Wikis can require some training and resources in order to use and generally will not work in areas without high-speed internet, but most are not difficult to learn.
The main problem with wikis is a direct consequence of their very purposeāthe ability for any user to add, change, or delete text. There is no guarantee that posts are accurate or even in good faith, and users can derail the whole project if they choose.
