The Form-Based Codes Institute works to advance the use of Form-Based Codes - a zoning and policy tool that can help communities maintain control over the look and feel of places and improve livability.
The Form-Based Codes Institute, founded in 2004, works within three practice areas:
FBCI makes a number of resources available on its website, including a checklist with standards for evaluating the quality of a form-based code, a sample RFQ for municipalities looking to hire a qualified consultant to help develop a form-based code, a database of sample form-based codes across the country that can be filtered according to city characteristics and other parameters, and helpful news reports, articles, and books.
FBCI’s educational resources include webinars, which may be purchased online, focusing on topics including form-based code basics, sustainable design, economic development, and historic preservation. FBCI also offers three in-person courses related to the design and implementation of form-based codes and awards a certificate to those who complete all three.

We instituted The Driehaus Form-Based Codes Awards as a way to showcase codes that are exemplars for the practice of Form-based coding, i.e. codes that are instructive in their excellence. One year we did not receive submittals that we thought measured up to the quality of previous winners so we chose not to give an award that year but rather to host a discussion of common mistakes we were seeing in code-writing. All of this is to say the codes to which FBCI, through its juried process, has given awards are superb codes and would be worthy of promotion on your fine website.
