This searchable database, created by the National Association of Counties, compiles green tools, practices, strategies, and projects for improving sustainability in communities and counties.
Compiled and maintained by the National Association of Counties (NACo), the Green Government Database is part of the organization’s information and assistance program. Aiming to help county governments improve knowledge, increase capacity, and build strong local programs and projects, NACo is the only national organization to specifically target this scale of government.
The Green Government Database compiles programs and resources dealing with environmental and infrastructure issues, one of the focus areas for NACo. Allowing visitors to search by topic, information type (policies, codes, presentations, etc), location, county size, and year, the site provides results tailored to the user’s needs. The results, including a variety of fact sheets, plans, policies, and news articles, provide visitors with examples of how county governments address environmental problems with innovative local solutions.
